Wildcraft Adventure: the outdoor experience for video gamers

This summer holiday Woodlanclassroom’s  video game inspired activity days return to Swansea. In games like Minecraft and Terraria, players have to survive in a hostile environment; build their own house, hunt for their food, hunt for materials and fend off wandering monsters. Sure, your child can survive in the wilderness on the computer screen, but can they do it out in the woods? In this unique outdoor game kids have to work together, using what they know from video games, to learn outdoor survival skills and earn points along the way.

Playing the ‘Wildcraft Adventure’ game is a fantastic way to get your video game obsessed child out into nature.

Just like in their favourite computer games, kids will be set a number of challenges throughout the day, and all the while be building their dens before ‘night’ falls and the monsters wake up. Players will light their own campfire, ‘mine’ for resources and use sharp axes; all closely supervised by experienced Forest School leaders. There’ll be plenty of time to get creative with play and imagination – of course. This will be a full day of video game inspired activities for kids aged 6-12 years from 10am to 4pm.

We’ll also be enjoying some hot campfire snacks such as sausages, marshmallows and hot chocolate. Children should bring their own packed lunch though.

There are 3 dates to choose from at Penllergare this summer:

Thursday 26th July

Friday 27th July

Saturday 28th July

Tickets are £35 per child and we’re offering discount places of £30 for each additional sibling.

Open to all children aged 6-12 years. Advance booking is essential – these events have proved REALLY popular.

Parents don’t stay with their children during this event. Our forest school activity days are all supervised by trained and experienced staff… that’s us. If your child has special needs that you feel would require a parent or guardian to stay with them for the day though, we would advise getting in touch with us in advance of making a booking and we’ll see what we can arrange. We like to be as inclusive as we can.

Please note that these activity days are run by Woodlandclassroom, not The Penllergare Trust, so you need to contact them to book:
