Richard Morris was a founding member of The Penllergare Trust. Sadly, he passed away early in 2019 and will be missed by all at Penllergare.
Richard Morris’s commitment to the saving and restoring of Penllergare arose from his family connections and a passionate interest in photography, notably that of John Dillwyn Llewelyn.
When he learned of plans for the commercial development in the walled gardens, threatening the remains of the orchid house, it was his appeal to the Welsh Historic Gardens Trust that triggered the start of the project as we know it today.
The publication of his book “Penllergare – A Victorian Paradise” was instrumental in raising the profile of Penllergare Valley Woods to a wide audience and the profits from the book were used to found The Penllergare Trust.
Richard was appointed Trustee Emeritus in December 2014. Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this sad time.
