Penllergare Receives QAVS Award

21st June 2016 News 0

Penllergare Valley Woods was proud to be awarded with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2016  at a ceremony held for our volunteers last Friday.  The QAVS is the highest award that a voluntary group can achieve, and is the equivalent of an MBE.  The certificate, signed by the Queen, was awarded by the Lord Lieutenant of West Glamorgan on her behalf.

Penllergare Trust’s trustees, volunteers, staff and supporters attended the award ceremony.  The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and the Lord Lieutenant congratulated our team of volunteers on their hard-work and achievements in restoring Penllergare Valley Woods and making it an accessible and welcoming place for visitors.

The award was accepted by Penllergare’s most senior volunteer, Merfyn Williams, on behalf of the Trust and all our volunteers.
