Celebrate UK Fungus Day with a free fun(gi) day out for all the family on Saturday 10th October 2026!

Join us on Saturday 10th October as we celebrate the fascinating world of fungi.

From creative crafts and inspiring displays to a fungi talk and guided walk through the woods, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Come along, discover more about the incredible fungi that grow all around us, and enjoy a wonderful autumn day in the woods.

Most of the festival takes place at the Woodland Centre, Penllergare Valley Woods. Please see info below.

Fungi Walk in the Woods

11.30am – 12.30pm (SOLD OUT)
1pm – 2pm (SOLD OUT)

Join us for a guided fungi walk through the woods, discovering the fascinating fungi around us, their role in the ecosystem, and how you can get involved in citizen science by helping to record and monitor them.

Booking is essential – Book here 

Please note: Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, who will also need a ticket.

Y Coed Coffee Shop

Treat yourself to a delicious bowl of mushroom soup at Y Coed Coffee Shop — the perfect warming autumn treat!

 Y Siop

Pop into Y Siop, next to the Coffee Shop, where our fabulous artisans will be selling a small selection of fungi-themed goods.

Entry to the festival is free. Booking is essential for the Fungi Walk.

This event is funded through the Welsh Government’s Nature Networks Programme.

Directions:

• From Junction 46 / Morriston / Llangyfelach: Turn left immediately after Lezzet Cafe and the pedestrian crossing.
• From Junction 47 / Gorseinon: Drive past the main Penllergare Valley Woods entrance on the A48. After about 250m, turn right immediately before the pedestrian crossing and Lezzet Cafe.

Parking: Follow the drive into the staff car park. Parking is free during your session. The venue is the green building enclosed by fencing on your left.
